“i will cut your scene”
you know, because my life is a reality show of which i am the star and the producer.
example: “how can you watch so many trashy reality shows?”
“Bitch, I will cut your scene SO FAST.”
this is the first conversation I have ever had on tumblr and it is with this person patiently trying to explain to me how some people, by the law of logic, must genuinely like The Great Gatsby?
internet you have failed me.
Am I the only person in the internet who thought The Great Gatsby (the book) was a snoozefest?
Or do you all just have Baz Luhrmann’s glitter in your eyes?
Considering people have been reading Gatsby since it was released, 80 years before…
I’m never said you were wrong. People are entitled to their own opinion. I studied Gatsby in Literature (before I’d heard of the film) and loved it. However, there are plenty of novels that are considered “great” that I find boring as hell *cough*Lord of the Flies*cough*.
I was just saying people are reading it because of the film coming out, and if they like the novel, that can’t be blamed on Lurhman. He’s the reason they read it, not the reason they liked it. From what I’ve heard, his adaption’s pretty mediocre anyway. I’m reserving judgement till I’ve seen it but not in any rush.
But liking something and claiming to like something to be part of the zeitgeist are two different things.
Yes they are, I’m just saying that the people you claim are just being sheep may actually like the book. They just may not have heard of the book as they don’t have an active interest in literature. Film adaptions draw new readers in, and some may be following the crowd, but I’m sure many actually like the book.
This conversation is putting me to sleep only slightly faster than reading The Great Gatsby.
SNORE.
